Mandatory fields

  • Supplier name, address, GSTIN
  • Consecutive invoice number and date
  • Recipient name, address, GSTIN (for B2B)
  • HSN or SAC per line
  • Description, quantity, unit and rate
  • Taxable value and discount
  • Rate and amount of CGST, SGST/UTGST or IGST
  • Place of supply with state code
  • Whether tax is payable on reverse charge
  • Signature or digital signature

Tax invoice vs bill of supply

Registered dealers issue tax invoices. Composition dealers and suppliers of exempt goods issue a bill of supply, which carries no tax lines.

  • IGST charged to a customer in the same state
